Front Porch Tea - Sherman Downey Blend
Sherman Downey's Blend is named after "Front Porch" — the beloved lead single from Sherman's third album New Beautiful — and it captures the song's spirit perfectly. The character in that song sits on his porch each morning with a tea in hand, watching his small town wake up around him, daydreaming about hitting the road while being quietly, completely content right where he is. This tea is that feeling in a cup. Naturally sweet from liquorice root, gently warmed by ginger and turmeric, brightened with lemon and orange peel — light, healthful, and unhurried. No caffeine. No bitterness. Just the kind of cup that makes the morning feel like yours. Pour one, find your porch, and let Sherman do the rest.
Ingredients: Turmeric, liquorice, ginger, lemon and orange peel.

In the mornin' she is dancin' in the kitchen to the music on the radio With the windows open and the curtains wide she's singin' every word she knows
And out in the street with the heat comin' down the boys are busy fallin' in love And the girls walk by with their backs up wonderin' what the hell they're thinkin' of
All the kids on the corner, they're kickin' up dust it must be something to be so bored Last week some punk beat a window out it's got the neighbours lockin' up the doors
And all the weekend workers, they're walkin' to work like nothin's gonna get 'em down Maybe it will and maybe it won't but they'll be damned if they'll be sittin' around
And you can find me on the front porch sippin' my tea wonderin' if anyone is looking at me Everyday it's the same old thing; there's nothin' much happenin'
Soon I'm gonna pack my suitcase and I'm gonna hit the road Well, if you're walkin' around and you see my face be sure to stop and say hello
Little bird, won't you carry me? I'm up with the sun every day of the week And it hits me like a kiss on the cheek and rolls me like a stone
Whoo hooo whoo hoo hoo Ooo whoo hoo hooo
Now it's a lazy evenin' I'm daydreamin' that I'm on the run And I'm runnin' with my lover and when we duck for cover she tells me I'm the only one
And oh, how my heart skips a beat How could a lady of mine ever be so sweet? She nearly swept me off my feet You got to hand it to my imagination
'Cause I'm just sittin' on the front porch sipping my tea wonderin' if anyone is looking at me Everyday it's the same old thing there's nothin' much happenin'

Why loose leaf tastes better
A tea bag holds the dust left over after the good pieces are sorted out. Loose leaf is the whole fruit and leaf, with room to open up in the water. Then there's how it's put together: Nicole ran kitchens in Gambo and Gander for twenty years, and every blend is built by taste, the way a chef builds a dish, sampled and refined at our table until it's right.
Whole, natural ingredients
Real fruit, flowers and leaves you can see in the scoop.
No artificial flavours or sweeteners
The taste comes from what’s in the bag. Nothing sprayed on.
100% organic
Sourced from certified organic gardens around the world.
Room to open up
Whole pieces unfold in the water, so you get the full flavour.
Still good 2 years after opening
Keep it sealed and dry and it holds its taste.
Zero sugar
Our fruit blends are naturally sweet with no sugar added.
Blended by taste
Built the way a chef builds a dish, and tested until it’s right.
Small batches from Gander
Blended and packed by our family, so it arrives fresh.
Questions we get asked
Is there sugar or artificial sweetener in the natural flavours?
No. There's no added sugar and no artificial sweeteners or flavours in any of our blends. The sweetness you taste comes from real ingredients like dried fruit, berries and flower petals, and any natural flavours are just that: natural. Every blend is 100% organic, so what's in the bag is what you taste.
How much tea is in a pack, and how do I brew it?
Mini makes 3 cups, Small about 15 cups, Regular about 40 cups.
New to loose leaf? It's easy. For a cup, use one teaspoon. Pour water just off the boil (around 95°C), steep 2 to 5 minutes, then lift out the leaves.
You'll need something to hold the leaves while they steep. We sell paper tea filters, ball infusers and infusers that sit right in your mug.
